Pandemic Years: Poems 2020-2022

About the Collection

Pandemic Years: Poems 2020-2022 is a collection of poems written during one of the most unusual periods in recent history. Isolated inside her apartment, like so many others, the author unleashes a range of unrestrained emotions, sharp sarcasm, and off-the-cuff humor, as she can only do in the creative sphere. Reflecting on many chapters of her life, from youth to middle age, she makes a case for complexity, yet worships simplicity, like a dog.” The book, however, makes it abundantly clear that simplicity is insufficient for a fully human experience—at least for the author herself.

From the Collection…

I’ll serve wine and ecstasy,
A few bites of blissful recklessness
That you’ll share with me—
One at a time,
In the deep green
Concealed from the sky.

—In the Prarie

I still pick blueberries
Overwhelmingly slow,
Imagine snakes
Crawl under my feet,
Biting me with deadly poison—
They watch me,
As I slowly bleed.

—The Old Dusty Road

You will drink a cocktail—
A fresh harvest of blood,
From the skull decorated
With souls prematurely lost.
You will not inhale fresh air,
Only the stench of dead flesh,
Kept captive in prison for years,
Searching for life,
Triumphing in death.
